"When it comes to pleasuring women and conversing in the language of love, cunnilingus should be every man's native tongue," writes clinical sexologist Ian Kerner, Ph.D. in She Comes First, a straightforward, intimate, and exuberant guide to cunnilingus. Kerner first explored "the oral caress" as a way of compensating for his "sexual inadequacies," and quickly learned that women not only welcomed but often preferred "the way of the tongue," reaching orgasm more consistently than through intercourse. Kerner educates readers about the clitoris, "the powerhouse of pleasure," with 18 parts and 8,000 nerve endings (twice as many as the penis) and describes female sexual response from "foreplay" through "coreplay" to "moreplay." Dispelling the widely held myth of genital penetration as the apogee of sexual pleasure, Kerner, who holds a doctorate in clinical sexology, offers this witty, well-researched manual for "consistently leading women to orgasm" through cunnilingus. Loaded with practical anatomical information (the clitoris has 18 distinct parts, and more nerve fibers than any other part of the human body) and graphic line drawings, the book also touches on the less mechanical, more psychological aspects of oral sex, including the three assurances every woman needs from her lover to feel comfortable: (1) "you enjoy it as much as she does"; (2) "there's no rush"; and (3) "Her scent is provocative, her taste powerful: it all emanates from the same beautiful essence." Since studies show the average woman takes about 20 minutes to reach her first orgasm during a typical sex session, while men take a mere four minutes, Kerner advises men to delay their own climax and make oral sex "coreplay" ("the substantive phase in which sexual tension builds, culminates and then releases itself through the female orgasm"), instead of foreplay. Breaking down six stages of coreplay, from the "first kiss" to orgasm, Kerner speaks to both beginners and more seasoned lovers. His candor concerning his own bout with sexual dysfunction adds a compassionate tone and credibility to this decidedly pro-female methodology.

Every 18 year old male should be required to read this book.

I thought this book was going to be about physical technique. But, actually it is about slowing down to take a hour or longer, to delay the male's gratification, to learn to read your partner's reactions, to give pleasure without any time table or deadline, to really care deeply for another human being, to enjoy the moment, to not be offended by the smell or taste or feel of your partner, to fully enjoy just being together with another person, to be attracted to the person and want them to enjoy the time together, to have go through all stages in order to reach orgasm and then have a cooling down period of closeness. It really is a book about loving and caring. It is not just about the physical sexual technique or how to get the job done quickly or hooking up with a stranger every Saturday night. The best sex is with someone you really care about and that you take the time at a leisure pace to enjoy sharing an experience. It is sharing and caring at the deepest level.

Bought this as a gift for my wife (not the book silly). It's helped me be smarter in the intimacy realm. I was never afraid to "go-down" and actually quite enjoy it, but was always worried I wasn't doing things right. Well, this book confirmed that and has made me an expert. Wife gives it two thumbs up, all day, everyday. Go for it fellows!

If you love your wife (and your penis) you must read this book. It changes everything. The female anatomy is truly amazing and this book introduced me to the fantastic and splendor that is the vagina a a way that I was completely ignorant too. I appreciate my wife's body on a much more intimate level now. She loves me loving her body on a different scale too. It's a wonderful, eye opening, how to, in the art of cuninglingus.

About the Author

Matt Rota is a New York artist who currently teaches at the School of Visual Arts graduate visual narrative program, and has taught in the illustration department at the Maryland Institute College of Art. His drawings and prints have been exhibited at the National Arts Club, the Society of Illustrators, and Last Rites Gallery in New York; the Copro Gallery in Lost Angeles; Galerie L'Oeil du Prince in Paris; and other international locations. He has received recognition and awards from American Illustration, Communication Arts, 3x3 magazine, Creative Quarterly, Spectrum, and Lurzers Intl Archive, where he was listed as one of the top 200 illustrators worldwide. Matt Rota is the author of Rockport's The Art of Ballpoint.

Inspiring book on ballpoint art

I'm in awe at what some of them have created. It's like these artists have turned the ballpoint pen into some sort of fine art tool. The chapters cover classical drawing, modern abstraction, graphic illustration, contemporary realism and sketchbook styles.

There are some artworks that made me do a double take. Like is that created by coloured pencil or ballpoint pen? The techniques of the artists are fantastic. Portrait drawings or landscape sketches are drawn as if with pencils until you read the caption to see that everything's with ballpoint ink. I'm surprised that there are so many colours available for the pens.

Matt Rota's the author of this book and he's also a skilful artist himself. He has included the history of ballpoint pens, profiles and analysis of contributing artists and their work, and also wrote several tutorials in this book. The book's not just inspiring, it also teaches.

This is a fantastic book. It will show you the possibilities of the humble ballpoint pen.

Amazing artists and techniques !!!!!!

The Art of Ballpoint was a great reference book for some of the best artists working in this medium (some of the portraits in this book are mind-blowing). And for anyone who wants to try and do a little bit more with the pens lying around their house themselves, Matt Rota has designed a very clear instructional method with examples and exercises to walk you through the basics.
I typically work with digital drawing programs, but this reminded me of how beautiful ink on paper can be, and inspired me to do more sketching. I was really surprised by the possibilities, and the artists in this book are selected in a particular way to demonstrate the pen’s full range.
This is also a good introduction to Rota, an amazing artist himself, who keeps the book alive with a website, Facebook and Instagram, where he shares more artists and reference material. Definitely recommend this!

A Unique Book!

This book is a rare resource focused exclusively on artworks made using ball point pen.
I've never seen anything covering this subject matter before. Ballpoint may seem like a niche medium
but it has an interesting history and many contemporary practitioners are highlighted here.
The author, Matt Rota, is a killer illustrator in his own right and The Art of Ballpoint includes
a half dozen pages of the incredible Mu Pan's artwork along with 20 other talented artists.
The accompanying text gives great insight into their practices as well.

Great drumset book for young drummers!

My wife teaches drumset to all ages and loves this book for young students. It has cool pictures that students like and touches the basics of rock, jazz, and blues. It also has sample drum fills the students can play. A CD is also included. Her only complaint is that it might move a little too fast for very young students due to the fact that it only spends one lesson on quarter note beats and then jumps into eighth notes. Highly recommended.

An unacknowledged gem!

This must be one of the funniest books I've ever read--I hadn't laughed out loud like this since Catch-22. The character of Miss Marjoribanks (that's pronounced "Marchbanks") is used by Oliphant both as a vehicle for social satire in the Victorian community and as an instrument to examine female modes of power in the Victorian home. The scene in which Miss Marjoribanks figuratively usurps her father's role as patriarch of the house by appropriating his place at the breakfast table is hilarious. Oliphant's book is wonderfully enjoyable and furtively serious--it may be light in tone, but it reveals a great deal about how a resourceful Victorian woman might seek modes and expressions of power within parameters that are very limiting.

The main character of Miss Marjoribanks is not intended to "grow" or "develop"--part of the pleasure of her characterization and her story is in witnessing how her single-minded mania as social director of her community compells her to overcome the obstacles thrown in her way by the novel's narrative. Why should we arbitrarily expose this book to aesthetic standards created by a handful of canonical novels? Miss Marjoribanks's characterization is as valid as any found in Austen or Trollope (though not necessarily as great as the best of them)--we must keep in mind that there was much more to Victorian fiction than what is revealed in the small quantity of canonized examples still read today. Oliphant was immensely popular in her day, she was Queen Victoria's favorite writer, and there were many contemporary critics who considered her to be one of the best novelists of that period.

In short, Oliphant's Miss Marjoribanks is a comic masterpiece, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to any reader of 19th-century British fiction.

Funny and fetching

If you were to cross Jane Austen's Emma Woodhouse with E. F. Benson's Lucia, the result (psychologically as well as chronologically) would be Margaret Oliphant's triumphant queen of Carlingford society, Lucilla Marjoribanks. Determined to show everyone an entertaining time (ostensibly "to be a comfort to dear Papa," even though her father tends to withdraw entirely from her noisy gatherings), the self-centered but always ingenious Lucilla engineers social triumph after social triumph in this very amusing mid-Victorian novel. There were many moments when I laughed out loud, or was genuinely surprised by Lucilla's cleverness in overcoming momentary catastrophes. This is the perfect book for anyone who has loved Austen, Trollope, or Elzabeth Gaskell's WIVES AND DAUGHTERS.

An absolute delight!

What a great find, and refreshing as it lacks much of the high melodrama so common in most 19th century literature. Miss Lucilla Marjoribanks comes home from school determined to be a comfort to dear papa and sets the good doctor and the entire town on their ears, with her brilliant manipulations.

The characters are wonderful, the story has lots of ups and downs that Lucilla is always capable of meeting with great ingenuity and fortitude. There are many wonderful moments and lots of laughter along with a few tears. Higly recommended, particularly for anyone who enjoys 19th century English literature.

Had it for a class as an unddergrad and it was good.

Although at times too abstract the book is a good discussion of historical writing. It is not an easy read but it is very rewarding. I was a better student of history after I read it.
